For Immediate Release:
Spring Reins of Life (Horses, Humans & Healing) 501c3 HONORED AS 2014 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT GreatNonprofits.org Award is based on Positive Online Reviews
Hillsborough, NJ – November 3, 2014 – Spring Reins of Life (SRoL) announced today that it has been honored with a prestigious 2014 op-Rated Award by GreatNonprofits, the leading provider of user reviews about nonprofit organizations.
“We are excited to be named a Top-Rated 2014 Nonprofit,” says Christianna Capra, co-founder for SRoL. “We are proud of our accomplishments this year, including being the first and currently only EAGALA (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) Model program in the state of New Jersey to earn the EAGALA Military Services Provider Certificate offering EAP (Equine Assisted Psychotherapy) to Veterans and their families. Also in 2014 SRoL has been awarded a pilot program contract from the NJJJC (NJ Juvenile Justice Commission) to provide EAP services to incarcerated youth at the NJTS (NJ Training School) located in Jamesburg, NJ. We are hopeful that if the results prove positive the contract will be extended for a full year.” The Top-Rated Nonprofit award was based on the large number of positive reviews that SRoL received – reviews written by volunteers, donors and clients. People posted their personal experience with the nonprofit. For example, Kristin Rossi (Volunteer and Fundraising Committee Member) wrote, “I have been with this organization for just over two years. I can honestly say that it has given me more than I could ever give to it. I can’t even count the number of times I hear people rave about the work they do and the lives they save. It is magical to be a part of the process.”
While the Top-Rated Awards run through the end of October, SRoL was part of the inaugural group to qualify for the year. In addition, we’ll been added to GreatNonprofits #GivingTuesday Guide—an interactive guide to top nonprofits throughout the years. Look for this near the holidays.
“Savvy donors want to see the impact of their donations more than ever,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “People with direct experience with Spring Reins of Life have voted that the organization is making a real difference.”
Being on the Top-Rated list gives donors and volunteers more confidence that this is a credible organization. The reviews by volunteers, clients and other donors show the on-the-ground results of this nonprofit. This award is a form of recognition by the community.
About Spring Reins of Life
Spring Reins of Life is an EAGALA Model program offering Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to PTSD Veterans, At-risk/high-risk youth and Children in Bereavement. EAGALA is an international model with a presence in all 50 states and 49 countries worldwide. With regard to severe trauma survivors there is often a resistance to “talking about it” either because they wish not to or are unable to do so. Interacting with horses in an un-mounted setting provides an immediate reduction in anxiety levels by providing present moment peace and a nonjudgmental way to rebuild trust – all without saying a word. From there new pathways and options arise to gain insight and resiliency for individual coping skills to managing the triggers that are associated with the traumatic experience.
Mission Statement:
To provide a safe, healing and empowered path to peace, positive growth and self-guided recovery for those suffering trauma and loss with the assistance of horses as our guides. Spring Reins of Life is dedicated to promoting psychological healing, emotional well-being and personal growth using the skills of mental health professionals and the assistance of horses. For thousands of years there has been a unique bond between humans and horses, it is our mission to enhance and leverage this bond to reach those individuals who are suffering from the effects of trauma, loss, drug addiction and/or the combined stressors and obstacles set forth by either circumstance or societal confines.
