PRIVATE FUNDING APPEAL for APRIL through DECEMBER 2022

Providing weekly OpHORSE Equine Assisted Therapy group sessions to PTSd Trauma Unit VETERANS (NJVAHCS, Lyons Campus) at SPRING REINS of LIFE 501c3

Since June 2012 the horse-human team at Spring Reins of Life (SRoL) have been providing OpHorse group sessions to serve those who have served, our Veterans. So far over 1100 veterans have been through our arenas and pastures, most of them through the PTSd trauma units at Lyons VA hospital. SRoL has hosted and funded weekly group sessions serving veterans from Lyons’ combat, domiciliary, womens, and substance abuse units on Wednesdays since 2012 (excluding 2020). It has been our honor to have been able to do this for so many and for so long.

The lock-downs from Covid19NJ were especially challenging for us at nearly 17 months without being allowed to provide essential services with horses who do eat like horses. In addition, we suffered support losses in volunteers, board members, and donors. For the first time in a decade SRoL is without the needed funding for these OpHorse sessions. The accompanying letter of support is from Lyons expressing the desire to attend OpHorse at SRoL. Please contact us for more information or with questions. We are on a tight timeline and appreciate any inquiry, interest, and support. We have endorsements, videos, credentials, and brochures to share. A typical OpHorse session lasts for 90min and accommodates between 6 and 10 Veterans with up to 4 horses at a cost of $700.00 per session.

Total Amount Needed for 30 available weeks in 2022:             $21,000.00

Sponsor One (1) weekly OpHorse session for   $700.00

Cost analysis breakdown provided upon request (mental health professional, equine specialist, horses, facility fees, insurance, etc.)

Sponsor One Full Month of weekly OpHorse sessions for   $2,100.00 to $2,800.00

$2,100.00 for months with 3 Wednesdays (April, May, July, September, October, December)

$2,800.00 for months with 4 Wednesdays (June, August, November)

There are either 3 or 4 weeks available per month. SRoL reserves the first Wednesday of each month for OpHorse “Open” group, which is fully funded by Butterfly Circle of Friends and held for veterans who wish to remain coming to the horses from any of our existing programs, or out of simple curiosity.

If sponsor / donor would like for SRoL to make public “this week/month(‘s) session(s) are sponsored by X” we can do that to give credit, and we can also understand anonymity. Donations towards OpHorse of any amount are welcomed.

Donations and sponsorships must be appropriated “Lyons Hospital Veterans”.
